According to the Fair Folk podcast, Lithuanian folklore has a deer goddess that brings the return of the sun in her antlers at Winter solstice. This piece was inspired by that story. The deer is wood burned to look like its made of wood with the antlers being the tree branches. the sun is painted in shiny gold. The back of the ornament is wood burned with "Happy Winter Solstice! The hemp cord has a raw amber bead.

My heritage is half Lithuanian so this story felt especially meaningful to me when I heard it. This is original artwork.

No trees are ever damaged in the making of our products. Each ornament I make is from a fallen tree limb. Either fallen on my property, or found during one of our hikes through the forest. Hence our name, "Forage" :)

The ornament is sliced from the branch and sanded in three steps before I wood burn an organic design onto it, paint it and then burn again. Each image is done free hand, so no two are exactly alike. Finished with a water based poly so it is satiny smooth. The finish is also essential to prevent cracking or damage to your wooden keepsake.

Ornament size is approximately 3" Diameter

Naturally occurring imperfections are present in every piece of wood. Nothing is perfect, but that's what we love about Nature! Our wood supply is ever changing. Please message if you would like to see what piece your ornament with be made from.

Lets plant trees together! Forage will contribute a portion of every sale to the Arbor Day Foundation!
